    How it works

How the 2 player game works

    1. Type both names and pick a range.
    2. Player 2 types a secret number while Player 1 looks away. The input is hidden.
    3. Player 1 guesses with bigger or smaller hints until they find it.
    4. Swap roles for round 2.
    5. Fewer guesses wins. Same number of guesses? The faster time wins.

    Online

Play online with a friend anywhere

Not in the same room? Play a Solo round, then tap Challenge a friend. You get a link to send in any chat. Your friend plays the exact same secret number and sees your score to beat, with the winner decided by guesses and then time. They can pass the same challenge on to the next friend.

    Tips

    How to beat your friend

    • Guess the middle of what is left, every time.
    • Hide a sneaky number. A player who guesses the middle tries 50, 25, 75, 12, 37, 62 and 88 first in 1 to 100, so avoid those.
    • Go bigger for a longer game: 1 to 1,000 takes up to 10 guesses, 1 to 10,000 up to 14.

    No phone?

    Play it out loud

Guess the number works with no device at all. One person thinks of a number, the other guesses, and the first person answers higher or lower. Count the guesses on your fingers and swap. It is a great car game and a classic classroom warm up.

    FAQ

    Questions

Can two people play guess the number online?

Yes. On one device, use Duo mode and take turns hiding and guessing. In different places, finish a Solo round and tap Challenge a friend: they get a link with the same secret number and your score to beat.

    Who wins a tie?

If both players need the same number of guesses, the faster time wins.

Can we play with a bigger range?

Yes. Pick 1 to 1,000 or 1 to 10,000 before you start for a longer game.
